Utkal University beat host SOA Deemed University by seven wickets in the final to retain the title in the SOA Premier League T-20 Cricket Tournament at SOA Stadium here tonight. Opening batsman Pratik Anurag Das starred in the Utkal triumph, hitting a blistering 38-ball 73, which was embellished with six hits to the fence and seven over it. His impressive batting performance fetched him the coveted award as the Champion of Champions.
SOA University`s Kundan Prajapati, who top-scored for his team with 39 runs (19 balls, 5x6), bagged the man of the tournament prize, while S Kranti Kumar (Andhra University) and Abhijit Parida (SOA) were awarded as the best batsman and best bowler of the tournament respectively.
Champion Utkal University received the top prize of Rs 50,000, while runners-up SOA University settled with Rs 30,000. Odisha Cricket Association secretary Asirbad Behera handed over trophy and cash prizes in the presence of SOAU Vice-chancellor Prof Rajendra Prasad Mohanty.
BRIEF SCORES (Final): SOA University 142/8 in 20 overs (Kundan Prajapati 39, Kanta Ashrit 26; Satya Mihsra 3/19, Priyam Mallick 2/22) lost to Utkal University 143/3 in 15.5 overs (Pratik Anurag Das 73, Priyatosh Paramanik 19 n.o; Abhijit Parida 1/16, Kamal Singh 1/21).
